Crail Harbor Walk

Today I walked down to the harbor of Crail. My husband was golfing so I had the time to myself. I packed my knitting along because I had a good idea that I’d want to spend some time on a bench just soaking it all in!  And I was very right!  I passed so many quaint doors on the way down and back up. Of course, I had to take pictures of the best!

It was glorious weather!  I know it can’t last long but I’m loving the warm air. There was a fabulous breeze coming off the North Sea and had my hair going every which way.   I walked out to the end of the sea wall and thought of Jane Austen’s “Persuasion.”

A little girl even climbed to the top and called for her family to catch her as she jumped. I’m thinking, “hasn’t anyone told this girl about what happens when you jump from high sea walls?!”  Oh well!

I saw that The Lobster Store had opened for lunch and people were feeding on large lobsters, freshly caught and cooked. No side dishes. Just the meat!  I had a lobster roll that was so plain and so delicious!  Cheers to me, eh?  This place gets called different names but it looked like the only little hut on the harbor serving fresh caught lobster and crab.  When they run out, they close.  But even if you get there and they're out, the walk is not a waste.  The view is amazing!

I did find a bench and park there for awhile and worked on a sweater for my newest grandson. It was great listening in on the conversations around me. I got a chuckle out of them. I noticed on the beach across the way a little guy, buck naked, frolicking on the beach with his dog!  Haha!  It’s 68 degrees and you’d think it was 90 to these people!

I cooked in tonight!  I went to the local butcher, JB Penman's, and got some pork steaks, and some potatoes, leeks, carrot, and some berries from the grocer stand, Green's. There was no wine so I deglazed the pan with some gin I found in the cupboard.  It turned out rather well!
